Feynman Timekeepers embark upon its latest project: the Cove - a modern take on the famed "Super Compressor" style watches of the late 1950s. The design intent was to create the most versatile dive watch we can possibly conjure, with a dive-rated case, ample lume, and wearable in all urban settings.
Following the success of the Feynman One collection, we are now proud to present the Cove collection to you here. Read on to learn more about this project.
Acase design like no other. The Cove is designed to be the most versatile Dive Watch ever created; one that will look equally great on the boardwalk, as it will in a boardroom.
Sitting at just 12.8mm in height, and 40mm in diameter, the Cove is built to suit most wrist sizes. Specially-designed ergonomic lugs ensure a sleek fit, while giving the watch a retro vibe.
Integrated crown guards feature in the case design, keeping in line with the stream-lined contours of the entire watch. Crowns are designed to ensure proper grip in all conditions.
The Cove will be released in three distinct colourways: Vintage, Founder's Edition and Eclipse. Each possessing a different character, with varied combinations of lume. Each model will also feature a plated rotor in different colours, in synergy with the front dial.
Each dial has taken us several trials, before obtaining the perfect hue we desire.
Dive watches are commonly judged by one yardstick: the quality and potency of its Lume. With the Cove, we took a radically different approach, and utilised lume as art.
Each variant features a different combination of Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9, C3 and Faux Patina lume paints. Every Cove model shares a common center-dial, lit by Black Lume, which forms a wave pattern hiding subtly in day-light, only revealed in the darkness and underwater.
The internal-rotating bezel also features ample loads of lume, ensuring easy reference in all conditions.
Developing a caseback is seldom a priority for most dive-watches, being utilitarian in nature. We took special pride in creating an exhibition caseback which holds up to the challenge of a 200m rating, revealing the beautiful Top-Grade, fully-decorated ETA 2895-2 movement through a sapphire lens.
Each model also features a rotor which has been plated in a colour synergistic with the front dial.
The design of the caseback cover was created with serviceability in mind, requiring no proprietary tools for access.
Straps complete the dive watch. With the Cove, we have developed a FKM-grade fluoroelastomer rubber strap which features a mid-line adorn with the same wave pattern as the center dial.
FKM rubber was chosen for having superior performance in extreme temperatures (–40 °C to +225 °C), high chemical stability, resistance to aging and weather. It is also immune to static.
Most importantly, the FKM straps wear extremely comfortably on all wrists, and less likely to trigger allergic reactions when compared to natural rubber.
